Morale among Secondary School Teachers

Abstract

The present study was conducted on 600 government and private secondary school teachers of
different academic streams in the cities of Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula – to study
morale in relation to their city type, school type and academic stream and interaction among
them. The main findings of the study were that Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula secondary
school teachers exhibited difference in teacher morale. Private secondary school teachers
exhibited better teacher morale than government secondary school teachers. Teachers of different
academic streams, namely, languages, social science, and science and mathematics exhibited
comparable teacher morale. Significant difference was found between city type and academic
stream with respect to teacher morale, and between school type and academic stream for
secondary school teachers with respect to teacher morale.
